George Pappas

George started training in Shotokan karate in 1991 in Philadelphia, PA. He trained for only a short time before he took up other sports upon entry into high school. While attending Penn State he once again started training in Shotokan in 2001. He attained the rank of Shodan in 2004 with the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF).

George was an active competitor while at Penn State. He regularly competed in the ISKF's East Coast Collegiate Karate Union tournaments. He represented Penn State at the ISKF National Championships on various occasions placing in both kata and kumite. Through his participation in Shotokan Karate he has been fortunate enough to visit many diverse places and also practice with a number of instructors.

George earned both his BS and Masters in Computer Science and Engineering from Penn State. His professional career includes research in the field of network security and currently working as a software engineer for a multinational defense contractor.
